Endgame (Staff vs. Seniors Basketball Game)
By Johanna Smith
On November 21st at 6pm, the first staff vs. seniors basketball game was held in the Pinelands Regional High School gym. This event, commonly known as Endgame, was directed by the yearbook club in hope to raise money to lower the prices of yearbooks. Not only did the yearbook club successfully complete their goal, but they also have created a new Pinelands tradition!
To kick off the game the seniors took the lead within the first 5 minutes which happened to stay in their favor up until halftime with a score of 23:17. However, during the second half of the game the staff began to rapidly catch up due to Mr Johnson's layups. Both teams had exceedingly well crafted players both in their technique and sportsmanship making it a fair game. Within the last eight seconds Michael Staino shot a three pointer making the final score 58: 54, the seniors winning by four.
“Despite the game being extremely competitive, both teams were well respected by the other '' said Ms. Feldman. When interviewed about Endgame Ms. Feldman also mentioned how the game had encouraged a large amount of student engagement from the team and audience which overall created a good environment. Another staff participant, Mrs. Flanagen, discussed how the game brought upon a new perspective on teachers from both their peers and students. Overall, it was refreshing to see the positive impact that Endgame has had on the community.
