Seniors in Paradise
By Collin Martin
As many readers know, 130 of our senior students and 18 staff members just spent a week in Florida's Walt Disney World! For many of us it was a first time experience, for others it was a repeat visit. Through the week there, everyone had the opportunity to go and explore any of the open parks or resorts. Our park choices were Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Each park had various highlights, Magic Kingdom had Cinderella’s Castle, Animal Kingdom had the Tree of Life and Pandora, Hollywood had its various movie themed areas, such as my favorite: Star Wars! But who could possibly forget the Epcot ball, glowing in the middle of the park every night.
On top of the highlights of each park, we can't forget everyone's favorite rides! My personal favorites were The Avatar Flight of Passage and Rock N Roller Coaster. Many of my friends would say that these were some great rides, and others have their own favorites. Some of the rides I heard were a few group favorites were Soarin’, Rise of the Resistance, Ratatouille, Smugglers Run, Tower of Terror, and Thunder Mountain.
I know that everyone on the trip really enjoyed their five days in Disney World. Some enjoyed a first time experience, and others enjoyed an amazing return to the parks. Sadly, our five days were up too soon and we had to get ready for the trip home. Oh boy were there a load of events on Saturday, starting with packing our luggage at Pop Century, to dragging it all in during the rain. But let's not forget everyone’s favorite part, getting to the airport, and waiting for hours! Luckily enough, the senior class still managed to get a flight home. Boarded and in air after 1 a.m., landed and bussed back to school at 3:20 a.m. and finally, many of us arrived back home between 6:15 and 6:45 a.m. Sunday morning. A rough end to a week in paradise, but all in all, the greatest experience for anyone!
